Its your responsibility to make sure that the venue is registered or approved for wedding ceremonies.
You must have booked a venue before you can give notice. Please contact us again when you have this information. You must have given notice at least 28 days before your ceremony date.
If you’re getting married abroad you should contact the government of the country where you want to get married, to find out what you need to do. Some countries require you to have a certificate of non-impediment from your local Register Office. You’ll need to contact us to make an appointment for this. Different rules apply to getting married in Scotland. You can find more details here.

At your appointment you'll need to bring documents with you as proof of identity. Each person giving notice needs to bring these. It’s your responsibility to make sure that you bring all the correct documents to your appointment. If you don’t, then you won’t be able to give notice of your marriage/civil partnership.
You can't make an appointment if neither of you live in Barnsley. You must give notice in the town where you live.
